Timothy Kibett and Ruth Gitonga emerged victorious in the 13.5km Mt. Longonot Trail Challenge that was held today at the Mount Longonot national park. The challenge is among the World Mountain running association ranking events .
Timothy Kibett of Milimani runners won the elite men’s 11.54 km race in one hour 2 minutes and 4 seconds.
Saoli Michael Selelo of Run together finished second in an hour 4 minutes and 5 seconds foIlowed by his teammate Ephantus Mwangi Njeri in an hour 4 minutes and 6 seconds.
Ruth Gitonga of Run together camp led her teammate Philaris Jeruto Kisang in a duo sweep of the womens elite race which attracted 36 competitors .
Ruth won the race in an hour 14 minutes and 50 seconds as Philaris clocked an hour 15 minutes and 25 seconds.
Joyline Chepngeno of Milimani runners was third in one hour 16 minutes and 51 seconds.
The Mount Longonot trail challenge took the athletes though hiking paths in the mountain terrain and was attended by the President of World Mountain running association Tomo Sarf.
