The National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetangula is set to deliver a ruling Wednesday afternoon regarding which coalition between Azimio la Umoja and Kenya Kwanza holds the majority in Parliament.
This is after a supremacy battle ensued on the floor of both houses after Azimio La Umoja Coalition Members occupied seats of the majority side following a court order.
The Speaker however insisted that the court has no capacity or power to declare who is majority or minority saying the matter lies squarely within the purview of the House.
The situation was similar in the Senate where Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna leading the charge of taking the Majority seats in the upper house.
The session was temporarily halted after a section of Azimio MPs blocked Deputy Majority Leader Owen Baya from tabling reports as required by the Standing Orders.
Following this Mbita Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo petitioned Speaker Moses Wetangula to cede office to Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss citing the court ruling on bias.
However the National Assembly Speaker Wetangula pointed out that the House has the final say on its proceedings.
He resorted to cancelling the Wednesday morning session to allow the clerk of the National Assembly and parliament senior counsel to find a solution to the matter.
All eyes are now on the speakers of both houses to give directions on recent judgment by the high court.
