Muthomi moves to 4th at the Africa Women’s invitational Championship

12-year-old Kanana Muthomi had a round of 1 over par 73 to move to fourth place after

the second of three rounds of the R&A Africa Women’s Invitational Championship at the

par 72 Leopard Creek Country Club course in Malelane, South Africa on Thursday.

 

Kanana, who was joint 12th after round one after a round of 8 over par 80, had birdies in

the par 5 second and par 4 fifth, which were cancelled by bogeys in the sixth, eighth, and

nine holes for a score of 36 out.

 

In the back nine, she had a birdie on the fifteenth hole and a bogey on the sixteenth while

going level on the rest of the holes for 36 out of a day’s score of 1 over par 73 and a total

of 9 over par 153.

 

South Africa’s Gia Road moved one place to 1st after a round of 3 under par 69 to lead.

with a score of 3 under par 141.

 

Road had a bogey at the par 4 third but responded with birdies in the fourth, twelfth, fourteenth, and eighteenth holes to lead the field of 19 at the end of day two.

 

Road’s countrywoman Bobbi Brown is second on level par 144, while another South

African Lisa Coetzer is third on 1 over par 145.

 

Kanana’s compatriot Chanelle Wangari Mwangi had a round of 9 over par 81 to drop to

joint 5th with South Africa’s Zana Kleynhas on 10 over par 154 of Friday’s final round

while Bianca Ngechu is 9th on 13 over par 157.
