The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCI) CEO, Ahmed Farrah, has called on Kenyan businesses to seize the immense opportunity presented by the global Halal market, which is valued at an estimated $7 trillion dollars.
Farrah who was speaking during a growth forum in Nairobi says Halal certification would open up new avenues for Kenyan agricultural products, manufacturing sectors, and service industries to reach previously untapped Muslim consumer markets around the world.
Halal certification, which adheres to Islamic laws regarding food, beverages, and other consumer products, is an increasingly sought-after credential in many Muslim-majority countries.
As more consumers globally seek Halal-certified products, Farrah highlighted that Kenyan businesses stand to benefit from expanding their reach into this multi-trillion-dollar market.
Industry players say Kenya’s agricultural and manufacturing sectors are already seeing significant growth, and the demand for Halal products is expected to rise exponentially over the next few years.
With the backing of the Islamic Chamber Halal Services, Farrah believes that Kenyan businesses can gain a competitive edge by becoming early adopters of Halal certification.
