Celebrations to mark Kenya Defence Forces Day are underway at the Thika Garrison in Thika, Kiambu County.
Cabinet Secretary for Defence Soipan Tuya will grace the special event which has been observed since October 2012 following the launch of Operation Linda Nchi in October 2011.
KDF Day is observed annually to Commemorate and celebrate the acts of valour and gallantry by KDF heroes and heroines.
This year’s theme is “One Force, Mission Ready: Unity in Action for National Security and Development.”
The day is also used to pay tribute to fallen Kenyan troops who courageously paid the ultimate price in the battlefield while defending the country.
