Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kilimani have apprehended Meshack Kipleting Tarbei, a serial fraudster and Director of Motorshop E.A Ltd, after he evaded capture for over a year.
Tarbei, whose office was located at Marsabit Plaza along Ngong Road, allegedly defrauded unsuspecting members of the public before abruptly closing shop and disappearing.
At least nine victims had reported his fraudulent activities at the Kilimani Police Station.
Acting on the complaints, detectives launched a manhunt that culminated in Tarbei’s arrest at King Serenity Estate in Rongai.
He was escorted to the DCI Kilimani offices for processing ahead of his arraignment.
Investigators suspect that more victims may have reported similar cases against Tarbei at various police stations in Nairobi.
Efforts are underway to consolidate all reports to ensure justice for those affected.
