CIB Kenya has appointed Abhinav Nehra as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.
Nehra, a seasoned banking and payments expert with over 30 years of experience across Africa, Asia, and emerging markets is expected to drive the bank’s continued growth and enhance its commitment to financial inclusion and innovation.
Nehra has held leadership roles at various global institutions, including CitiGroup, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Network International, and Ecobank Transnational.
At Ecobank, he managed and restructured the group’s retail and commercial banking portfolio, overseeing operations in 34 African countries. He also expanded UBA’s retail financial services, growing its footprint from two to 16 markets.
Additionally, he led the largest “Payment as a Service” company in Africa at Network International and built CitiFinancial India into the group’s most profitable consumer finance franchise across emerging markets.
Tom Gitogo, Chairman of CIB Kenya’s Board, praised Nehra’s track record, noting that his leadership will be key to driving the bank’s future success.
