Five people died in a fatal road accident Friday morning along the Karatina-Sagana route in Kirinyaga County.
Kirinyaga West sub-county police commander Moses Koskei said the accident occurred after a trailer ferrying bags of maize en route to Sagana collided with two private vehicles heading towards Karatina.
Those injured were rushed to hospital for medical attention. Investigations to ascertain the cause of the accident are underway.
Witnesses reported that the overloaded lorry overturned after the driver lost control.
They are calling on authorities to erect more speed bumps at the busy Kibirigwi centre to help prevent such incidents in the future.
