The Kenya Under 20 men’s soccer team, the Rising stars will know their opponents in the CAF Under 20 Africa cup of Nations tomorrow when the final draw takes place in Cairo, Egypt.
separate pots will be used with Kenya in the second pot with Ghana, DR Congo, Morocco, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Tanzania.
Kenya’s Rising stars qualified for the CAF Under 20 Africa cup of Nations for the first time when they beat Burundi in the semi finals of the CECAFA qualifiers to reach the finals where they eventually lost to Tanzania who will be joining them in the finals .
Other teams who qualified for the tournament include Egypt, Nigeria, Zambia ,Senegal and hosts Cote d’Ivoire.
The teams will be divided into three groups with the hosts preassigned the first position in Group A which will have 5 teams, while Nigeria who finished third in 2023 will be positioned first in Group B which will have four teams.
Holders Senegal will be seeded first in Group C which will also have four teams .The CAF Under 20 Africa cup of nations will be held in Cote d’ Ivoire from the 26th of April to 18th of May this year.
The top two teams in each group will advance to the quarter finals along with two best third placed teams.
The top four nations at the end of the tournament will qualify for the 2025 FIFA Under 20 World cup scheduled to kick off from September this year in Chile.
