As one of the co-chairs of this year’s Met Gala, Zendaya walked the red carpet in two John Galliano pieces. One, a creation based on a 1999 Dior piece made in a royal blue and emerald green, with embellishments which looked as if they were inspired by fruit trees.
And the second, a 1996 piece from John Galliano’s Givenchy era – a black gown – paired with an entire bouquet on her head.
South African musician Tyla made her debut on the Met Gala red carpet wearing a Balmain dress made of sand – a reference to the sands of time.
“We were looking to do something creative, something completely different for my first Met Gala,” Tyla told Vogue.
“So when Balmain showed me the idea and sketch, I just knew it was perfect. The idea was crazy, and I loved it.”
As per one of the themes, ‘A Garden of Time’ based on the book by J.G. Ballard, Tyla took the concept of time and ran with it.
