World Masters Athletics Indoor: Nyandoro breezes through to the 200m final in record time

Millicent Nyandoro qualified for the final of the women’s 200m at the ongoing World Masters Athletics Indoor Championship after winning her semi final heat in a record time.

After missing out on her first race in the championship being held in Alachua County, Gainesville Florida due to late arrival Millicent Ndoro made her intentions known in the 200m dash, W35 category .

Running in the semi- final of heat 3 Ndoro registered the course record by sprinting in a time of 24.89 seconds. A focused Ndoro took the field by storm running a well calculated race by posting the best time ahead of the finals slated for later today,Friday.

Another Kenyan in the race  Elizabeth Muthoka too, ran well in her heat in the W50 category finishing first but was thereafter disqualified following a lane infringement.

All is not lost for Muthoka since she will be featuring in the 400m, W50 on Saturday. Daniel Kimeli Tanui gave his all in the Discus event M60 category but missed out on a podium position.

Tanui finished in the 6th position by throwing 43.60m. The gold & silver medals went to Americans Victor DeMarines and Paul Rosati who threw  the Discus at 54.63 m and 50.64m respectfully.

The bronze went  to Robert Ingenbleek from Germany. It’s another busy day in team Kenya’s camp with 5 athletes taking the field.  Millicent Ndoro will be featuring in the finals of the 200m dash with Eric Sikuku in the finals of the 3000m walk, Kenya’s silver medalist in the long jump Regina Multhya  will be trying her luck in the triple jump while Daniel Tanui will be chasing a medal in the Javelin event.

Kenya’s gold medalist in the 3000m Francis Bowen will be taking part in the 1500m semi-final.

So far Kenya bagged 4 medals, 2 gold and 2silver in this inaugural event that comes to a close on Sunday 30th March, 2025 in Alachua County Gainesville Florida.
