Sports teams including Women’s Football Clubs in Muranga County are set to enjoy a turm around in their fortunes if a Bill before the County Assembly is passed.
Nominated MCA Tonny Manucho revealed that a Sports Bill before the floor of the house would ensure women/girls get support.
He said once it sails through, women teams will access material and financial support.
The bill is set to be debated on once the County Assembly resumes from recess later this month.
“In this county, men have been favoured when it comes to support. We have many soccer teams and also teams in other various sports disciplines where women teams feature but have been sidelined.Once the Bill before the floor of the House is passed, our women and girls will get support to engage in sporting activities,” added the MCA.
Manucho and his nominated counterpart Gladys Wambui noted that the bill is set to encourage women to engage more in sports which are career paths.
’In Murang’a, we have women who are talented in different sports but unfortunately they have not gotten the opportunity and support to nurture their talents. Once we pass the bill, those interested in sports will be engaged in sports,” added Wambui.
