A suspected child trafficker has been arrested in Kabete, Nairobi bringing an end to a nearly three-month manhunt.

The suspect, identified as Mary Akinyi Mulamula, was captured in a coordinated operation led by the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit alongside detectives from DCI Kabete.

Two children, including one stolen from Kakamega County, were rescued in the process.

The arrest follows weeks of intense investigation that began after the abduction of a child from Muchingu, Mukango Sub-Location, in Kakamega on June 6.

The suspect allegedly convinced a shamba boy to allow her to take the child to Kakamega to be registered in sponsorship program that promised a monthly stipend of Ksh9,000.

Instead, she disappeared without a trace, leaving the family in despair.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is set to be arraigned in court.
