The much anticipated meeting between the Country’s oldest football rivals Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards is not happening anytime soon, not at least this Sunday .
The Sunday, March 2nd Meeting between the two clubs has been postponed with football authorities citing unavailability of the venue to host the match.
It should be noted that the two teams haven’t faced each other this season with the league already in the second leg.
The fixture was originally scheduled for Kasarani.Football Kenya Federation in a statement cited the lack of facility promising to announce new dates soon.
‘’Football Kenya Federation regrets to announce the postponement of the highly anticipated FKF Premier League fixture between AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia originally scheduled for Sunday’’ communique from FKF States.
The statement further reveals the circumstances that led to the decision: ‘’The decision follows the inability of the designated home team to secure a suitable venue for the match.Nyayo National Stadium MISC Kasarani the primary venues for such high profile fixtures,remain unavailable due to ongoing renovations in preparation for CHAN tournament in August’’.
‘’A new date will be communicated in due course’’,it reads.The move keeps wetting the appetite of the fans of both clubs who are relishing the chance to see their sides clash in what could be the 93rd derby.
Defending Champions Gor Mahia are currently placed third on the Football Kenya Federation standings with 36 points,5 off the leaders pace while Ingwe is lying 5th on 34 points.
