Westlands MP Hon. Tim Wanyonyi has officially declared his intention to vie for the position of Nairobi ODM Chairperson. Speaking during a Sunday service at the Africa Inland Church in Sarangombe Ward, Kibra Constituency, the legislator affirmed his commitment to reshaping ODM leadership and energizing the party for future political contests.
“I want you to give me a chance to be the Nairobi ODM Chairperson,” said Hon. Wanyonyi amid applause from the congregation. He stressed the importance of rejuvenating the party, stating, “We want fresh air in ODM, fresh ideas. Let’s prepare ODM to take over the government in 2027.”
Wanyonyi emphasized the need for transparent and democratic elections within ODM, moving away from harmonization processes that have previously caused discontent among members. He announced that polling station elections would take place on November 27, urging party members to vote where they are registered.
“As ODM members, we’ve told our party leader, Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, that this time we want real elections from the grassroots to the top,” he stated.
Lawrence Otieno Odhiambo, Sarangombe MCA, echoed this sentiment, saying, “In ODM, we want elections. Whoever fears elections does not want progress in the party. Hon. Tim Wanyonyi is our candidate for Nairobi governorship, and this time, no shortchanging.”emphasized Wanyonyi
The Law maker reiterated his aspiration to run for Nairobi Governor in 2027, vowing to take the race to the ballot this time.
Reflecting on the 2022 elections, he noted, “Last time, I stepped down for Polycarp Igathe as part of the Azimio coalition agreement. But this time, it will be up to the people to decide, not boardroom decisions.”
He assured Nairobi residents of his readiness to deliver effective leadership, stating, “Me as Tim Wanyonyi, let us walk together so that I can be your next governor. I will give you the services you need.”
