The refund will be applicable to all Day two ticket holders

The East African Breweries Limited (EABL) has issued an apology following the difficulties and delays experienced by concertgoers, vendors, partners and artists at the event.

Promising a refund to all Day Two concertgoers, the company apologised for the delayed performances by American legend Lauryn Hill and the cancellation of the performance by Kenyan fan favourite Nyashinski.

“Despite our best efforts, unforeseen technical challenges—particularly due to the rain and other conditions—affected our sound system, causing significant delays.

“This resulted in the delayed performance by Miss Lauryn Hill and, regrettably, the cancellation of our brand partner Nyashinski’s performance, which deeply impacted the overall festival experience.”

Further, EABL said that it had intended to meet the high expectations set by the brand and its consumers but failed hence the refund.

“We would like to extend our sincerest apologies to everyone who was affected.

“We understand the importance of meeting the high expectations we consistently strive to deliver.

“In light of these circumstances, we will be issuing a 100% refund to all ticket holders for Day Two of the WalkerTown 2024 Festival within the next two weeks.

“This is a reflection of our commitment to fairness and respect for the trust you placed in us.”

The WalkerTown concert, which took place at the Laureate Gardens at Kasarani over the weekend, made headlines for its top-tier artists and for a few incidences.

Day one, which featured performances by UK artist Ardee, Nigerian Rema and Bien, saw several attendees overcome security and storm the grounds in a chaotic turn of events.

Day two, which was beset by heavy rainfall, led to what the company calls “technical difficulties and delays” that led to Nyashinski not performing.

Attendees at the Sunday event left the grounds at 5 am on Monday having waited for hours for Ms Lauryn Hill to perform.
