Shortly after signing with Universal Music Group East Africa, hits-making producer Vic West has released his latest single, “Dush”.
The track features exceptional Kenyan acts including fast-rising Kenyan songstress Brandy Maina, afro-pop crooner Charisma, and the soulful emoter Malosh.
Vic West’s “Dush” explores the exhilarating rush, obsession, and pull that comes with romantic love.
Vic West shared his personal connection to the track.
“Like all of my releases, ‘Dush’ holds deep meaning for me. Every time I release my art, I want the world to experience it, see me through my music, and connect with what I feel.”
He further elaborates on his choice of collaborators saying that his choice to work with Brandy Maina, Charisma, and Malosh was rooted in their established working relationship and the natural chemistry they share.
“Beyond their prior collaborations, these artists each bring a unique sound that has significantly shaped Kenya’s burgeoning Afro-R&B culture, a genre now experiencing widespread appeal among the Kenyan populace and beyond,” he said.
Brandy Maina, known for her versatility across Afro-Pop, RnB, Soul, and Dancehall, brings her signature “golden flow” to “Dush.” Her recent activities, including performances at events like the House of Banter and collaborations with other artists, highlight her consistent rise in popularity.
Charisma, who recently shared the stage with African giant Burna Boy at the MadfunXperience, is celebrated for his enchanting fusion of Afropop with Kenyan alternative and R&B. His growing prominence in the Kenyan music landscape makes his contribution to “Dush” valuable.
Malosh, for his soulful voice and blend of Afro-pop, R&B, and soul, added a touch of spice in the hook, creating an unforgettable track.
