Upyke Education unveils digital content platform for PWD’s

Uptyke Education in collaboration with iHub and the Mastercard Foundation Ed Tech Fellowship has ,officially launched its innovative digital content platform for learners living with disabilities.

The  focal points that Uptyke platform focuses on include the deaf , visual impairment, autism, and intellectual disability.

The  content  is  accessible  both offline and online and can be accessed by learners from remote areas.

Its   content is  in line with the CBC curriculum that recognizes English and Swahili, as the major languages.

According to Sheila Lutta the Assistant Director ,Ministry of Education, Special Needs Education, learners with disabilities in all aspects of learning, must have access to differentiated and accessible digital learning experiences.

As the Ministry of Education, development agencies, developed with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles at its core.

The educational resources, includes videos,hands-on experiments,and tailored assessments.

“The Uptyke Education platform offers a comprehensive suite of interactive, accessible
with disabilities as they deserve the same experience,” said Lilian Mutegi, CEO of Uptyke.
Content Platform. As this will help in the creation of global and digital access to STEM courses.
Sheila added that the government is focused on providing inclusive education and covering a few thematic areas, including earlier education, assessment and placement of learners with disabilities, infrastructure adaptations in schools to enhance inclusive education where possible, teacher training, and even research and disaster preparedness.
The government is very keen on making sure that all learners access education in the spirit of SDG goal number four, which is about equitable and lifelong education for all.
Fred Owako, national chairman of APDK, made a clarion call to organisations to support learners living with disabilities as the government remains their biggest donor.
His sentiments were echoed by Lilian Mutegi, who encouraged partnerships, noting that learners with disabilities also want to learn digitally and have to access learning materials in formats that are relatable to them.
“That’s why Uptyke is here to bridge those gaps of accessibility and inclusivity.”
