Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has issued a stern warning to contractors, blaming them for shoddy work that does not meet the required standards.
He emphasized the need for integrity and high-quality workmanship in county projects.
Speaking at the National Museums of Kenya in Kitale on Thursday during an appraisal meeting on county projects, Natembeya stressed that his administration will no longer tolerate substandard work and uninspected projects.
He warned that contractors who fail to meet these standards risk being blacklisted from future County Government contracts.
Governor Natembeya also announced that his administration will soon start paying the pending bills amounting to Ksh 400 million.
He stated that from this financial year, contractors will be paid every quarter to ensure that the issue of pending bills is curbed. Already, Ksh 180 million will be cleared soon.
Additionally, the Governor announced the formation of a committee to oversee periodic payment mechanisms for contractors, aiming to address issues of loan defaults and pending bills.
