Efforts by the Azimio One Kenya Coalition Party to join the proceedings of the tribunal probing the conduct of the four former IEBC commissioners have flopped.
This is after the nine-member tribunal led by Appellate Judge Aggrey Muchelule declined the application citing among other things, time constraints.
“We don’t see how the outcome of the tribunal against Commissioner Irene Masit will affect Azimio. The proceedings of the tribunal are also time-bound. The work of the tribunal was also widely publicized, we don’t know why Azimio is making an application to be enjoined now,” ruled Justice Muchelule who promised to subsequently give a comprehensive reasoning why the application was rejected.
Azimio's Counsel Danstan Omari indicated that they will be making an appeal once they are furnished with the proceedings and determination of the tribunal.
The Muchelule led tribunal is probing the conduct of the four former IEBC Commissioners namely Juliana Cherera who was the Vice Chairperson and Justus Nyang’aya, Francis Wanderi and Irene Masit who all disowned last elections presidential results moments before they were announced.
Cherera, Nyang’aya and Wanderi resigned from the commission with only Masit resolving to face the nine-member tribunal.
