The three James Mwangi Muiruri, Stephen Thumbi Kagai and Vincent Ndumia alias Gatoto, had been arrested following an operation by detectives and officials from the country’s electricity distributor, based in Murang’a County.

Key exhibits related to the case including assorted transformer lamination sheets were recovered from the suspects’ homes in Kenol and Saba Saba in Murang’a County.

Earlier, the suspects had led the officers to Gakuyu shopping centre in Kigumo, where they had vandalized one transformer sub-station, made away with three drums of copper windings and siphoned over 80 litres of transformer oil.
