Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers have arrested three suspects in illegal possession of possession of 85.7kg of elephant tusks along the Garsen-Witu road.
The suspects, identified as Faraj Omar, Abdallah Wachu, and Anna Hiribae, were apprehended on Friday following an intelligence tip-off.
The arrest occurred at around 3PM near Witu along the Garsen-Witu road.
According to the police report, the tusks which had been cut into four pieces and packed in two green sacks were hidden in bushes along the roadside.
The elephant tusks, now in the custody of KWS officers, will be examined as part of ongoing investigations.
The suspects are expected to face charges related to wildlife trafficking.
