The National Assembly select committee on the impeachment of Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi is set to start its probe this morning after holding a pre-trial session.

The 11-member team chaired by Marsabit Woman Rep was formed last week after the House voted to impeach the CS.

Addressing the press at parliament buildings shortly before the committee began its sittings Tuesday, the sponsor of the impeachment motion Bumula legislator Jack Wamboka accompanied by his lawyer George Khaminwa said he has sufficient evidence linking Linturi to the scandal.

He also expressed his confidence in the committee that comprises members from both Kenya Kwanza and Azimio coalitions.

Wamboka who submitted his documents to both the committee and the respondent raised concerns over his personal security.

The respondent CS Mithika Linturi similarly submitted his response, setting the stage for the judicial process.

Speaker Moses Wetangula has convened a special sitting on Monday next week during which the Select Committee investigating the proposed dismissal of Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi will present its report to Parliament.

In a notice, Wetangula stated that the sitting will take place on Monday May 13 at 2.30PM to consider the report by the 11-member select committee.
