The Earthshot Prize opens submissions for 2025 cohort

The Earthshot Prize (TEP), an esteemed global initiative dedicated to addressing critical environmental challenges, has officially opened submissions for its 2025 cohort.

Individuals, communities, businesses, and organizations are invited to present their innovative solutions that align with the Prize’s ambitious mission to protect and restore the planet by 2030.

Following an unprecedented year for nominations, which saw over 2,000 entries from 139 countries, the Prize continues to inspire and empower environmental pioneers worldwide.

The 2025 submissions focus on five critical “Earthshots”: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Fix Our Climate.

Highlighting the Prize’s reach, the 2024 awards ceremony was a groundbreaking moment, marking the first time the event was held on African soil.

Hosted in Cape Town, South Africa, and broadcast live across the continent by MultiChoice, the event celebrated remarkable African-led innovations.

Notable winners included Ghana’s Green Africa Youth Organisation, recognized for its “Zero Waste Model” addressing air pollution, and Kenya’s Keep IT Cool, which introduced sustainable refrigeration systems for small-scale farmers and fishers.

Each winning initiative received £1 million (KSh. 163.1M) to expand its impact.

The Earthshot Prize seeks submissions that are impactful, inspiring, and inclusive, aiming to motivate global action and ensure equitable resource access.

Organisers emphasise the urgency of scaling solutions to tackle the climate crisis, encouraging bold thinkers to seize the opportunity to accelerate sustainable development.
