The State Law Office, under the leadership of Attorney General Justin Muturi, has made significant strides towards Kenya’s ambitious goal of planting 15 billion trees.
In the latest monthly tree-planting exercise, the team successfully planted 22,500 trees.
AG Muturi expressed his gratitude, stating, “We have planted 22,500 trees so far. Thank you, State Law Office, for the good work. We want to be proud after three years, according to the Kenya Forest Service officer, who has said it will take that long for the trees to grow.”
The tree-planting initiative is scheduled to continue, with the next event planned for the second Monday in August.
This ongoing effort draws inspiration from the late President Mwai Kibaki’s environmental legacy, with a commitment to emulating his dedication to greening Kenya.
In a nod to the concerns of the Gen Z population, who have recently demonstrated against the finance bill, Attorney General Muturi acknowledged their voices.
“We hear what Gen Z is saying and we take it very seriously. Whether you are leaderless or party-less, we hear you and we will take it into account. Just give us time, and we will make changes that will benefit you as Gen Z.”
Reiterating the urgency of environmental stewardship, the Solicitor General emphasized, “We don’t have any other country to turn to.” This statement underscores the importance of collective action in safeguarding Kenya’s natural resources for future generations.
The State Law Office noted they remain committed to this cause and encourages all Kenyans to join in the effort to plant trees and protect the environment.
