More than 90 teams from across the country are set to take part in the second edition of the National Heroes Volleyball Tournament that will be held Mosoriot, Nandi County, this weekend.

Speaking in a presser at the Koitalel Samoei University College where the tournament will be held, Kenya Volleyball Federation leadership led by Vice President Charles Nyaberi confirmed that this week KVF National League matches will be held at the same venue on Friday 9th.

The tournament which will be held on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th will feature several categories including; professional, university and college teams plus community represented sides among others.

Malkia Strikers head coach Paul Bitok launched the initiative in October last year with the subsequent  inaugural edition happening a few days later where 88 teams from Nandi county and various parts of the country participated.

The objective of the initiative is to recognise and appreciate volleyballers of yesteryears and those actively involved now - who in one way or another have contributed to the growth of the sport in the Rift Valley region

Additionally, the tournament will serve to expose untapped talent from the region for teams that are looking to bolster their squads ahead of the new season.

With the schools category included it will also give a chance to coaches to identify young talents they can begin grooming for the future
