Arsenal Lirhembe lifting Karamoja Super Cup trophy

Ikolomani  based Arsenal Lirhembe emerged winners of the fourth edition of Karamoja Super Cup after sinking Tombo FC 1-0 in an entertaining clash played on 28th December at the Samitsi grounds in Malava Sub-County.

The tournament which attracted a total of 48 teams;both 32 male teams and 16 female teams is organised annually by former Kenya Premier League record champions Gor Mahia forward Bramwel Karamoja with an aim of unearthing raw football talents in Kakamega county.


Karamoja applauded all the participants for showcasing their talent adding that he will strive to make the tournament bigger as times go by in a bid to help in the growth of football in Kakamega county hence subsequently contributing in the overall development of the game in the country.

"As usual the tournament lived up to the expectation in terms of beauty of the game and fan attendance. Boys and girls passionately played their game in line with the tournament philosophy of exhibiting massive potential and I'm sure the scouts present led by Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano spotted several talents for Kenya Premier League assignments. Next year it will be an enhanced version of what we witnessed today.I'm also grateful to our sponsors Betika for making this happen as they have always remained committed towards bettering our sport in the country " he said

The final was curtain raised by a battle pitting KPL All-Stars led by former national team Harambee Stars goalkeeper Matthew Ottomax,KCB defender Dennis Odhiambo among others against  Karamoja Select.


KPL All-stars was  coached by ex Kenya tactician Stanley Okumbi and assisted by Hesbon Nyabinge while Karamoja Select was taken charge by the Brewers and experienced gaffer Matano

The tournament has been attracting a good number of spectators from across the country promoting sports tourism and Jaza Stadi Initiative.

The region is well known for producing great soccer talents who have gone ahead to win accolades for the clubs they represent and the national team.

The winners took home cash prizes accompanied by other football equipment like sets of uniforms, match balls among others
