Gor Mahia and AAR insurance entred a deal that will see players medical needs covered.

Record Kenyan Premier League winners Gor Mahia has announced medical cover deal for its 40-member squad which will be provided by  AAR Insurance.

The cover will see 40 players enjoy an inpatient cover of Kshs.750,000 and outpatient cover of Kshs.60,000 on and off the pitch and includes rescue and evacuation benefits.

The cover’s premiums are pre funded by the insurer and the club’s shirt sponsors Sportpesa. Sport pesa is believed to have commited Ksh.2M per annum for three years to the cover.

“This is the only way the all our football leagues can become competitive and attract more sponsors while growing the careers of our sports men and women “, remarked Sportpesa CEO Ronald Karauri.

“The Ksh2 million cover, I would like to believe, is a great start to our players’ wealth creation bearing in mind a medical cover is also a form of financial protection because medical bills can really drain one’s pockets”, he added.

AAR Insurance Group Head Of Brand, Marketing & Communication,Ms. Sheila Owiti was ecstatic saying:

“Gor Mahia has been a source of pride for our country over the years. They are undoubtedly among the leading and most successful clubs in East Africa. As a company, we deliberately chose to be a part of their success story; we understand the critical role played by our sportspeople in entertainment, inspiring young people and building our nation's economy. Furthermore, with our focus on

we are committed to ensuring that our current and future clients can enjoy innovative underwriting solutions at their convenience.”

“This will ensure all our players are covered on and off the pitch. Lack of proper medical insurance for our club has led to the loss of dependable players in the K'Ogalo squad, as epitomized by the case of Batambuze, a player whose bad injury prematurely ended what was destined be a glorious career at Gor Mahia FC and beyond. Therefore, this will be a great motivation for us, and I know our team will continue making Kenyans proud through its performance,” said Ambrose Rachier,Gor Mahia FC chairman.

The deal could have come at a better time with the former comtinental champions set to face Afc Leopards Sunday in their 95th Mashemeji Derby.

The match is set to kick off at 3PM at Nyayo National Stadium and will be the highlight of this weekend’s FKF PL action.

Bandari will seek to regain their campaign back on track when they host Nairobi City Stars at Mbaraki Grounds in the other of the two matches scheduled Sunday.
