Malindi town in Kilifi County is set to host the National Olympic committee of Kenya beach games next month.

The Secretary General of NOCK Francis Mutuku said that  that the  organization has partnered with Kilifi County to host the games scheduled 18th -19th  March.

Mr Mutuku was joined by Kilifi Deputy Governor Florah Chibule, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Dama Masha, the Chief Officer for Sports in Kilifi County Mr Naftal Owino and several national and county government officials in inspecting the Buthwani Malindi beach park in preparation for the event.

Mutuku revealed that  the games will include beach tennis, beach boxing, beach volleyball and beach football and more than 250 players are expected to participate.

Mr Mutuku added that the Kenya beach game was the latest version of celebrations of sports across the country and the games will be held in a rotational manner across the regions in Kenya.

He added that the African beach games will be held in June this year in Tunisia while the world beach games will be in Indonesia saying that the Malindi beach games will be done with intent to identify representatives for Kenya in both the African and world beach games.

Ms Dama said that the games will promote sports tourism in the County and also nurture local talent.

Ms Chibule said that the County will invest in sports to empower the youth economically.
