National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula on Friday evening joined the Muslim Ummah in Bungoma for a special Iftar gathering at Muslim Primary School in Mujini Estate, Kanduyi Constituency.
The event, held in the spirit of Ramadan, brought together faithful from different parts of the county to break their fast in unity and prayer.
As the holy month of Ramadan nears its conclusion, Speaker Wetang’ula encouraged the Muslim community to remain steadfast in their faith and uphold the values of brotherhood, unity, and peaceful coexistence.
He emphasized the importance of working together as a community to foster development and prosperity in Bungoma.
“I sincerely thank the Muslim community of Bungoma for today’s Iftar. I appreciate your support and encourage you to continue standing with our government so that we can work together for the betterment of our people,” he said.
The Speaker also urged the faithful to pray for the nation, its leaders, and its people, underscoring the role of faith in promoting stability and progress.
“I pray that we all have a blessed Iftar during this holy month,” he added.
Bungoma County, home to a diverse religious and cultural population, has a growing Muslim community that actively participates in social and economic activities.
The annual Ramadan Iftar gatherings provide an opportunity for unity and reflection, bringing together people from different backgrounds to share in the values of compassion and generosity.
Speaker Wetang’ula assured the Muslim community that he does not discriminate against any group calling for unity in investment and development efforts to uplift the community economically.
“If there are any leadership changes within the Islamic faith, kindly inform us so that we know exactly who we are working with, particularly within the Muslim community in Bungoma,” he said.
Speaker Wetang’ula was accompanied by leaders from the region, including the Bungoma Senator, the area Member of Parliament, and Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), who also expressed their support for unity and development within the community.
