Sofapaka edge out Naivas to retain top flight status

Sofapaka Fc have retained their premier league status after beating Naivas Fc 1-0 in their second leg match of the relegation and promotion play off played at Dandora Stadium,Nairobi.

Sofapaka won the two legs with an agregate score of 2-0 and will feature in the KPL while Naivas will remain in the second tier,NSL.

‘’The journey has been tough,we struggled in the season but we had to do our best .we had to fight for us to win this match and that’s what the boys did today’’Sofapaka coach Ezekiel Akwana said.

Sofapaka,2009 Premier league winners, finished 16th during the 2023/24 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season while Naivas wound up third in the national super league,NSL.

‘’We had seven chances but failed to convert any of them .we had the biggest number of goals scored in nsl.our opponents created two chances and scored one.we failed to score and we got punished for that’, remarked Collins Omondi Naivas FC head coach

Nzoia Sugar and Muhoroni Youth were relegated from the premier league while Mara Sugar and Mathare United earned promotion after finishing in top two positions in NSL.
