Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Guo Haiyan, met with the Inspector General of the National Police Service, Douglas Kanja, on Tuesday for talks at Police Headquarters, Nairobi.
Their meeting covered a wide range of topics related to bilateral and operational collaboration between Kenya and China.
“I paid a courtesy call on the IG of NPS Mr. Douglas Kanja, and discussed about strengthening cooperation on bilateral police exchanges, fighting against transnational crimes, capacity building, and protection of overseas interests,” said Ambassador Guo
Law enforcement training and capacity building, along with security cooperation through INTERPOL, were also key areas of discussion.
Ambassador Guo thanked the National Police Service for their ongoing collaboration and assured the Inspector General of China’s continued support.
Inspector General Kanja praised the strong relations between the Kenyan and Chinese security services, noting that these ties have facilitated numerous capacity-building initiatives and exchanges over the past decade.
He also acknowledged the support of the Chinese Government for the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) and expressed his hope for continued engagement and cooperation, as stated by the NPS following the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Jane Makori, Deputy Director General at the Asia and the Pacific Directorate, at the State Department for Foreign Affairs.
