Sarah Hassan wins Entertainer of the Year

Kenyan actress and producer Sarah Hassan has been honoured with the Entertainer of the Year award at the 2025 Forbes Woman Africa Awards.

The accolade is meant to recognise her contributions to the entertainment industry and her role in elevating African storytelling on the global stage.

Sharing a picture of her award on Thursday, Sarah Hassan called the experience at the awards ceremony in South Africa, “surreal.”

“Thank you to everyone who has called, commented, messaged me and just showed me love, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. This is a moment I will treasure forever,” she said.

The awards ceremony hosted in Pretoria, South Africa, took place on Wednesday night with an exclusive summit dinner for all the nominated women.

The Forbes Woman Africa Awards celebrates the achievements of women who have made significant impacts in their respective fields. Other nominees included Minnie Dlamini, Tiwa Savage and Nissi Ogulu to mention a few.

Sarah Hassan’s career began at a young age, gaining prominence for her role as Tanya in the Kenyan high-school drama series “Tahidi High.”

Her versatility has since been showcased through various television series and films, including “Plan B”, “Just In Time,” and “Crime and Justice.”

Beyond acting, Hassan has ventured into production, with her company Alfajiri Productions producing notable works such as “Plan B” and “Just In Time.”

In December 2024, Hassan was among over 500 Kenyans honoured by President William Ruto during a ceremony at State House, Nairobi, following the Jamhuri Day celebrations. She received the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) award, recognising her significant contributions to the Kenyan film industry.
