Sanaipei Tande lands judge role in Bongo Star Search Kenya edition

Musician-cum-actress Sanaipei Tande has been picked as one of the judges in Bongo Star Search (BSS), a leading Tanzania’s talent competition which is debuting in Kenya end of this year.

BSS is celebrating 15 years roping in Kenyans in the competition.

The former radio presenter will join judges Madam Rita, Master J, Salama Jabir and S2KZY in picking the best five from Kenya at the National Theatre on November 30 and December 1.

“The show aims to provide a platform for aspiring artists to showcase their skills and achieve their dreams” Rita Paulsen, CEO of Benchmark 360 Limited of Tanzania told journalists in Nairobi.

Benchmark 360 Limited which is behind the BSS reality show has been in collaboration with Startimes Limited, Tanzania for five years.

According to Rita, the show has made many dreams come true and expanding to Kenya is one of their aspirations.

“Previous contestants have gone on to achieve remarkable success in the music and entertainment industry, making this competition a vital part of Tanzania’s entertainment landscape. Now we want to be part of East Africa’s history” Rita said.

Five Kenyans will join finalists from Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi in Dar es Salaam to battle it out in the first leg that will see the number reduce from 50 t0 20 to the best three.

The overall winner will walk away with a grand prize of not less than USD 10,000.

Contestants will be allowed to perform all music genres and their fans will play a 40 percent role in voting via texts and Startimes app.

Tande and the other four judges will play the chief role in picking the best.

Rita was flanked by Tamima Ibrahim, StarTimes Marketing Director, Jing Du, Head of Content at StarTimes, and Myke Mwai, Head of PR at StarTimes Kenya.
