Ruto meets Opposition Hold-Out Group of South Sudan

Kenya has been facilitating the mediation process at the request of South Sudan's President, Salva Kiir

President William Ruto on Thursday met the Opposition Hold-Out Group of South Sudan in Nairobi.

The President said that at the request of the South Sudan Government delegation, the ongoing mediation process in Nairobi will adjourn until March 2025 to facilitate consultations that will inform the way forward.

Kenya has been facilitating the mediation process at the request of South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir, for the past 11 months to resolve the political stalemate that has resulted in a serious humanitarian situation and difficult security challenges.

The Opposition Hold-Out Group delegation was led by General Pagan Amum.
