WRC Safari Rally Kenya defending champion Kalle Rovanperra will lead Team Toyota Gazoo as he seeks to defend his title in this year’s edition set for the 20th to 23rd of next month.

Rovanpera is currently third in the drivers standings this season behind second-placed Sebastien Ogier and Rally Sweden champion and leader Elfyn Evans after the first two rounds of Rally Monte Carlo and Rally Sweden.

The Finnish driver will be joined by his teammates, current leader Elfyn Evans, Takamoto Katsuta, and Sami Pajari for the Safari Rally Kenya.

Speaking during the CFAO mobility sponsorship unveiling, Sports CS Salim Mvurya said they are committed to harnessing and developing rally talents in the country as the ministry seeks to deliver the best championship this year.

CFAO has sponsored this year’s edition to a tune of 60 million shillings, with 33 million going directly to the organisation of the event.

The WRC Safari Rally Kenya will also act as an African rally championship and a national rally circuit championship event.

After Elfyn Evans, navigated by Scott Martins, won Rally Sweden yesterday, the drivers are now on their way to Africa for the legendary Safari Rally Kenya, round three of the season, from 20th to 23rd next month .
