Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Diaz is happy after being named to the Morocco national team for the first time for their upcoming international assignments.

“When the list of players called up by Morocco came out on Wednesday with my name on it, I felt proud and happy. Who wouldn’t love to play for a national team like Morocco’s?” he declared on Thursday evening in an interview with radio station Cadena Ser.

I think the love and the project they have shown me in Morocco are very important,” said the 24-year-old.

Brahim was called up by head coach Wallid Regragui ahead of the Atlas Lions’ two friendlies against Angola and Mauritania at the end of March.

He added, “I was guided by my heart.”.

The midfielder had declared his intention to change his nationality from Spain to Morocco.

Brahim’s eligibility via his paternal grandmother underscores the nation’s endeavors to augment its roster with skilled athletes from varied backgrounds.

Youssef Lekhedim, often known as Yusi, is another highly regarded 18-year-old defender from Real Madrid’s ranks who was also included in the Atlas Lion’s squad for the two upcoming international friendly matches.

Morocco will host Angola on the 22nd of this month before playing Mauritania four days later, with both matches set for Agadir.
