President Ruto urges Kenyans to support flood victims

President William Ruto has commended Kenyans for supplementing government efforts in  aiding flood victims across the country.

The president who spoke during a Sunday service in Nairobi further urged Kenyan to heed to calls by the government to plant trees to arrest the effects of climate change.

“I want to thank you for praying for our country and supporting flood victims. I urge you to join the tree planting exercise that is going on across the country,” said Ruto.

At the same time the head of state called upon stakeholders in the transport and education sector to exercise caution as schools reopen for the second term this Monday.

The head of state called upon teachers and religious leaders to nurture learners into responsible adults.

“Let us pray for our children’s safety as they go to school so that they can get what education offers and be mentored into responsible adults.”

The President later graced the official closing ceremony for the ISF World Schools Cross country championship at the Ngong Race Course.

Ruto said Kenya has proved its capability of hosting more international events.
