There shall never be extrajudicial killings or political assassinations, President William Ruto has said.
Speaking during the burial ceremony of the late Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla at Senator Obama K’Ogello Primary School President William Ruto acknowledged that many Kenyans have lost their lives because of extrajudicial killing.
“It’s true that we have lost many Kenyans because of extrajudicial killings. For the avoidance of doubt and without any fear of contradiction, there shall never be extrajudicial killings or political assassinations.” President assured.
“There shall never be another occasion where we have bodies of Kenyans in River Yala. Not under my watch.” President Ruto added.
At the same time, the Head of State assured the nation that investigations will be carried out to unearth the root cause of the helicopter crash that killed the late Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla, Thursday afternoon.
General Ogolla died alongside nine other military officers after the helicopter they were travelling in crashed at Elgeyo Marakwet on Thursday afternoon.
He exuded confidence in Kenya Defence Forces in carrying out the investigations noting that they have demonstrated professionalism and integrity.
“I have full confidence in KDF, they have demonstrated professionalism and integrity. I’m confident that all details will be laid bare on the accident that took the life of General Ogolla.“ Said President Ruto.
President Ruto eulogised the late General Ogolla as a passionate commander, a patriotic citizen of great humility and integrity.
“General Ogolla was a passionate commander, a patriotic citizen of great humility and integrity. If I had another chance, I would appoint him again as the CDF of Kenya. I’m very confident, as I was then, that in his hands, Kenya’s security was assured.“ President Ruto mourned.
“He demonstrated that he loved and wanted the best for this country, he stopped at nothing to ensure Kenya was safe. As we celebrate his life, many people don’t understand the loss we have incurred as a country. Very few leaders can fit in General Ogolla’s shoes.“ He added.
The President further assured the family of the late General Ogolla that the government will stand by them.
