President William Ruto has directed the Kenya Revenue Authority to stop licensing companies importing second generation liquor products.
The tough-talking President reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating illicit brew that he said is gradually rendering Kenyan youth unproductive.
Speaking in Kericho County where he led government officials in commissioning and launching development projects on Thursday, Ruto said the government will not stand by and watch as Kenya’s young generation drowns in alcohol and narcotics.
Meanwhile, President Ruto has called on Kenyans to sign up for the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) when it is rolled out.
The President said unlike the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), the new Medicare regime will be corruption proof.

During his tour, the President commissioned Belgut TTI before launching the construction of the 13-kilometre Kapsuser-Sosiot road.
The President would then commission a passport center in Kericho town to relieve the locals of the burden of traveling to Kisumu and Nairobi for the document.
