President William Ruto has joined Pope Francis in calling for an urgent end to violence in all parts of the world, including Sudan and the DRC.
He expressed encouragement that the Tumaini Initiative, co-sponsored by the Sant’ Egidio Catholic Community in Rome, Italy, and the Government of Kenya, is yielding positive results in bringing lasting peace to South Sudan.
He also voiced confidence that the warring groups would agree to stop the fighting and give peace a chance.
President Ruto made these remarks after holding talks with Pope Francis on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy.
Meanwhile, the Head of State also reported having a productive engagement with French President Emmanuel Macron, discussing various areas of cooperation between their two countries.
They covered several infrastructure projects, including railway development and energy.
Additionally, he expressed his appreciation for France’s support of the Kenya-led mission for Haiti at the United Nations.
