Police seize bhang with an estimated street value of Ksh 37M in Kisii

The war on drugs continues in earnest

On the night of April 23, 2024, officers from Gesonso Police Station in Kisii County, alongside their counterparts from the Transnational Organized Crimes Unit of the DCI, carried out a successful operation.

They intercepted four vehicles suspected of illegal activity along the Migori-Kisii Highway in the Itierio area.

According to reports, the interception resulted in the recovery of 50 sacks believed to contain Cannabis Sativa, with an estimated street value of Ksh 37,500,000.

During the operation, one suspect, identified as Joseph Nisa Ouma, was apprehended.

Ouma, found in possession of Ksh 30,000 was an occupant of the vehicle registered as KCR 176 C (Toyota Probox).

However, the remaining drivers managed to evade capture.

Furthermore, authorities impounded four vehicles bearing the registration plates KCQ O81 R, KBM 645 S, and KBX 751 Y, which have since been detained as part of the ongoing investigation.
