Police in Kitengela, Kajiado County have Thursday morning disarmed over 30 youths wielding crude weapons who claimed they were hired to protect a popular entertainment joint along Namanga Road.
The group, armed with rungus and new pangas, maintained they were guarding the entertainment joint from potential looters .
A contingent of officers who arrived by 10 am to disarm the youth were forced to call for reinforcement.
The lounge director Ezekiel Mbugua said the action was informed by an alleged reluctance by police to respond to their distress call last Tuesday during the chaotic anti-taxation protests.
Police have since been deployed to safeguard the club against looting and vandalism.
