This is the first state visit to the United States by an African leader in more than 15 years

President Joe Biden Thursday welcomed Kenyan President William Ruto to the White House for a State Visit.

Speaking after being accorded a full state reception, President Ruto reiterated the need to have more discussions to enhance investment opportunities which will enable the African continent to grow economically.

The Kenyan leader who is accompanied by the First Lady Mama Rachel was welcomed into the Oval Office for a private meeting.

He thanked the US government for the support it has offered to ensure that Africa is secured.

Biden praised Ruto for “his bold leadership and noted that the two were celebrating a 60-year partnership that was not only “delivering for our nations” but “delivering for the world.”
