Former journalist and media personality turned businesswoman, Betty Kyallo, has said she is sleeping better since deciding to let her salon, Flair By Betty, go.

The salon was put up for auction over rent arrears.

In a public notice published in the dailies, Keysian Auctioneers said items on the premises will be sold by public auction on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in the case presented by the landlord.

Taking to her socials to address the issue she said the current economic climate was not conducive for businesses.

“Running a business in Kenya has become so difficult. Landlords don’t want to reduce rent and it becomes a huge burden on businesses that are struggling because of the economic slowdown,” Kyallo said.

Flair by Betty opened in 2020 to much fanfare after she dissolved her partnership with Real Housewives of Nairobi star Susan Kaittany. The two opened Posh Palace together in 2017.

The former anchor also said she is sleeping better since making her decision to let the business go.

“l am happier. l sleep better. My peace of mind is more important than a name. I’m good,” she said.

After thanking her fans and supporters, she announced the relaunch of her other business venture Aftershave.

“Also After 2 months of expansion. We reopen Aftershave by Flair Upperhill, La Baita. We have expanded, We are bigger.”

The auction will take place at Leakey’s Storage Limited along Lunga-Lunga road in Nairobi.
