Patrick Mbuthia wins Old Mutual circuit leg in Nyeri

Nyeri Club chairman, Patrick Mbuthia,  won the second leg of the 2023 Old Mutual Golf Circuit at the Nyeri Golf Club.

The corporate club night, sponsored by Old Mutual, was the second event following the coastal leg in late August at the Nyali Golf and Country Club.

The tournament will continue at Ruiru Sports Club on November 11, Kenya Railway Golf Club on November 23, VetLab Sports Club on December 6, and conclude at the Karen Golf and Country Club on December 14.

Mbuthia, playing off handicap 11, returned an identical score of 35 nett from both nines for a sterling final score of 70 nett to lift the coveted title at his home course. Trailing Mbuthia on a score of 71 (37+34) nett was Arthur Kamau, who was playing off handicap 22 after edging out the overall winner second Joel Githanda on a score of 71 nett.

Leading in Division-two was handicap 32 Jacob Kingori with 70 nett.

Erick Njagi, playing off handicap 24, was the best among Old Mutual EA Group staff golfers upon returning 79 nett ahead of the staff winner second, Onassis Ndegwa, playing off handicap six, and who carded 80 nett.

Fast-rising amateur, Richard Kibicho, playing off a solid handicap six, inked the best day nett score of 2-under par-69 to bag the best amateur prize.

Winning the First and Second nines were Angelo Nderi and James Wakibia with 32 and 33 nett, respectively.
