Pastor Dorcas Rigathi spent the better part of Sunday afternoon distributing food and non-food items to the victims of floods in Nairobi’s Mathare area at Mathare North Primary School.
The exercise went on despite the rains experienced in the area.
Thousands of the locals came out to receive the food after they were affected by the floods in the area.
Speaking during the exercise Pastor Dorcas said she will continue to stand with the victims who included children.
She also visited those who have been sheltered at the school promising to follow up on their cases.
“The government loves you and is thinking about you, that is why I am here today. I love you all and I will continue to see how you can get help,” she said.
The peaceful distribution was done by the help of the National Youth Service and the locals who had organized themselves in groups.
The beneficiaries could not hide their joy after each went home with a pack full of foodstuff.
Earlier, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua distributed food at the same locality.
She was accompanied by East African Community and Regional Development Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza, Nairobi County MP Hon.Esther Passaris among other local leaders.
