Maureen Kimani, Head of Business at Pallax Technologies, has called on the government to intensify its fight against corruption, emphasizing its crucial role in the growth of the tech sector and the funding of youth research initiatives.

Speaking during a live TV interview on KBC, Kimani highlighted the detrimental impact of corruption on the country’s economic progress, particularly in the technology industry.

She argued that corruption diverts essential resources away from innovation and stifles the potential of young, talented researchers.

“Corruption is a significant barrier to the development of the tech sector in Kenya. It not only erodes public trust but also diverts funds that could otherwise be invested in innovative projects and research programs for our youth,” Kimani stated.

While praising recent efforts by the government to tackle corruption, Kimani stressed that more needs to be done.

She called for increased transparency in the allocation of research funds and the implementation of stringent measures to ensure that resources reach the intended beneficiaries.

“Scaling up the fight against corruption is not just about punitive measures. It involves creating a culture of integrity and accountability within both the public and private sectors,” she said.

“By doing so, we can create an environment where tech companies can thrive, and young innovators can receive the support they need to drive the country forward.”

Kimani further highlighted the importance of investing in education and providing young people with the tools and opportunities to excel in the tech industry
