The Kenya Body Building Federation has announced June 28th as the date for the Mr./Ms Greater Western Body Building championship set to be held at Aga Khan Hall,Kisumu
‘’We decided to choose Kisumu because quite a huge talent of our athletes come from the region and most of the time when we host events in Nairobi they usually don’t travel and miss out on chance to showcase their talent, so by organizing this competition,it is one way of tapping the talent’’,Kenya Body Building Federation President Chrisantus Omedo said.
The federation will also use the championship to sensitize athletes on the importance of clean sport devoid of doping.
‘’We will enlighten them{body builders} on the dangers and benefits of drug free sport.That’s what we intend to also achieve during the competition’’.
Omedo warned upcoming body builders of using banned substances saying participants at the June 28th event will be tested.
‘’Body builders should realise that there’s life after body building and they should always involve themselves in clean sport,this is very important for their lives,all the upcoming body buildings events will have the body builders being tested’’Omedo remarked.
The championship which will feature both the male and female categories will see competitors battle in four categories which include: body building, bikini,physique and wellness.
