The Episcopal Ordination for Bishops Elect Simon Peter Kamomoe and Wallace Ng’ang’a is underway at St Mary’s Msongari Grounds in Nairobi.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta is among dignitaries attending the ceremony together with National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula who is representing the Chief Guest, President William Ruto who is out of the country.
The two were appointed in February by Pope Francis as auxiliary bishops of the Archdiocese of Nairobi.
Ng’ang’a, the archdiocesan pastoral coordinator, previously served as the Father in Charge of Christ the King Parish, Embakasi, and is serving at Queen of Apostles Parish, Ruaraka while Kamomoe is the Holy Family Minor Basilica administrator.
“As we come together in prayerful unity, let us acknowledge the pivotal role of church leadership in providing strategic guidance on Christian values within our society,” the Speaker said.
Other leaders who have graced the ceremony are Chief Justice Martha Koome, Cabinet Secretaries Susan Nakhumicha, Moses Kuria, Mercy Wanjau, Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja, MPs Tim Wanyonyi, Beatrice Elachi, Gabriel Kagombe and Senator Edwin Sifuna.
